Marie-Therese Cave, fondly known as Sarah Cave was born on May 15th 1926 in Mckenzie British Guyana. Shortly after her birth her parents, William and Isabella aka Tamar Cave travelled to French Guyana where they resided for a few years. Sarah was entered into a boarding convent in French Guyana for her education whilst her parents continued with their travels due to work. She stayed at the convent until her marriage to Mr Richard Chinama. Together they had three children, two girls.... Marie-Rose and Monique and a boy Sustien who died at the age of two. After her marriage her parents retuned to their birth place "Grenada" to settle. Cracks began to appear within Sarah's marriage and heavily pregnant with her fourth child Sarah travelled to the Island of Grenada to join her parents, where she gave birth to her third daughter, Rolande. She remained in Grenada for nine years and during that time a relationship was formed with Mr Wilfred St. Louis who became father to Rolande and he raised her as his own. In 1960 Mr St. Louis travelled to England and in 1962 leaving Rolande in the care of her mother Sarah joined him in the U.K. Together they lived in Sheffield until 1966 when they moved to Chesterfield. In 1967 Mr St. Louis returned to Grenada to collect Rolande to reunite her with her mother. The family unit was once again complete. They lived together at 62 Holland Road, Old Whittington until they moved to 23 Cromwell Road, Chesterfield in 1970. The relationship with Mr. St.Louis became problematic in 1976 and Sarah returned to French Guyana that year to reconcile with her family there. She remained in French Guyana for five years and returned to her daughter Rolande and grandchildren in England in 1981. She remained devoted to Mr.St.louis and cared for him until his return to Grenada in 1985 due to health problems. Sarah then engrossed herself in her in her crafts, outings with friends & family, and tending to her beloved flower beds. She whole-heartedly returned to her faith "Catholism" and religiously attended Mass regularly at the "Annunciation Church" in Chesterfield Derbyshire. Sarah had numerous forms of employment in and around Chestefield. She worked at William Lees of Dronfield, Wye Electronics in Whittington Moor, Trebor Sweets and finally at the Royal Hospital until her retirement. Sarah was blessed with many talented skills of which Crochet, Embroidering, Lace making, knitting and dress-making are just a few. She was also a keen and avid gardener and spent many hours tending her flower garden. She loved the outdoors and visiting friends but the joy of her life was being with her grandchildren whom she adored. She was blessed to see the birth of her one and only great grandson Dylan, who loved taking her food and feeding it back to her which made her laugh. Sarah loved to sing and laugh. Regardless of what problems she endured, she always had a pleasant smile on her face. She was a member of the Afro Caribbean Club in Chesterfield, Derbyshire where she enjoyed socialising with friends of the same ethnic background. She enjoyed their company and friendship and always looked forward to the events, functions and outings. In 2001, Sarah suffered a major stroke but by the grace of God she recovered and was able to travel to Grenada to visit the resting place of her parents for the final time. In 2003, she suffered another severe stroke which left her severely disabled. She suffered several minor strokes during her remaining years...the last in December 2010. She did not recover from that one. Sarah is survived by her daughters Marie-Rose & Monique in French Guyana and Rolande in the U.K. Her grandchildren, Karin & Oliver in French Guyana and Richard, Adrian, Joseph, Tamara, Naomi, Alicia, Roberta and great-grandson Dylan age 3 years in the U.K.
